DescriptionThis beardless male head wears a thick laurel wreath high on the crown, its ribbon tied in front. In the wreath, large pointed leaves have a raised ridge down the middle to indicate the central vein. Two bands tie the fillet together in front. The hair is combed forward from the wreath to the forehead in two horizontal segments, possibly separated by a fillet, and divided vertically into thick strands. The ears are hollowed, but the back of the head is not carved. The narrow, almond-shaped eyes are set into the square face, the right eye lower and larger than the left. The small, smiling mouth has thin lips that taper to the corners. The prominent chin complements the high, sharp cheekbones and in profile accentuates the fullness of the face.
