DescriptionA winged Nike, or Victory, is shown as if alighting on her toes, the left leg forward. She wears a peplos (a long dress) belted over an over-fold and fastened over her left shoulder, leaving her right breast exposed, and she holds the lower edge of the over-fold.
Forward motion is suggested by the garment blowing against her legs and behind her, and by the position of the wings, which point straight upward. The drapery is pressed in regular loops against the legs. The hair is pulled up into two topknots high on the crown; the small, delicate facial features are worn, but legible. A rounded object above the head is connected to the wings. All edges are soft, suggesting that the mold had been used frequently.
