DescriptionThis piece comes from the neck and upper body of a pelike, near the handle. Thin reserved lines frame a band of diagonal, reserved scrolls and palmettes. The head of a woman in profile to right wears a sakkos (a soft cap) that covers her entire headexcept for curls over her forehead and before the ear. Her high eyebrow arches over a narrow, almond-shaped eye with a clear pupil rolled forward to the inner corner. Her right hand, with an edge of cloak at her wrist, overlaps a palmette and tendril from handle zone at left.
