DescriptionThe female figure faces front in the pose of a dancer, her action indicated by the slant of the head and upper torso to her left and the forward left leg. The figure has a round face with large, protruding oval eyes, a small mouth, and a pointed chin, and wears a close fitting, sleeved “shirt” over a chiton. The hems of the shirt and chiton are decorated by small punched holes and vertical incisions. Seams at the collar, shoulders, and sides are also bordered by punched dots. Folds in the close-fitting chiton skirt are marked by wavy, diagonal incisions and punched dots. Despite the body’s movement, the braid hangs stiffly in a V pattern at back. The arms are solid at the wrists, but the lower legs are hollow where attached below the chiton’s hem.
