DescriptionRhyton in the shape of a right boot with pointed toe. A few bones on the narrow foot are indicated: by a small projection at right and a larger projection at the height of each ankle. A lug handle near the rim on the outside is pierced for suspension. From the narrow ankle, the lower leg flares outward sharply and ends at mid-calf. Incised decoration crosses the toes and right outer side of the boot: three grooves suggest a curved seam, which ends in an inward-facing tip before the pointed toe. Light incisions on the boot at rear right suggest stitching. These incisions continue vertically up to the right ankle and across the back. The inner side has a deep, rounded depression, either to suggest the instep or because the foot was designed to rest against a rounded object. On View
