DescriptionThis male head wears the wide diadem—with raised borders and three (ten-petaled) rosettes—that was popular on Cyprus in the late Archaic period. There are two small circular earrings on each earlobe, and the semi-circular ears are formed as wide discs, gradually hollowed out. The hair projects as rounded masses behind the ears. The face has large features and full cheeks. The eyes have heavily modeled lids and a distinctive trapezoidal shape. The long, straight nose projects beyond the line of the forehead. The full lips form a slight smile.
