DescriptionFragment of a Type A skyphos. This is the most common type of skyphos, characterized by a “rather straight wall that curves inward only slightly at the rim and toward the bottom, where it is joined to a thick torus foot,” and two round horizontal handles attached just below the rim. The fragment is from the far left of the decorated field. The curved damage at the upper left probably shows the attachment of the handle root, and the vertical direction of the glaze indicates the area under the handle.On View
