DescriptionAttic Type B skyphos with thin walls and ring foot. Two handles, one horizontal and one vertical, are attached just below the rim. The grayish-black color, thin glaze, and dull finish contrast with thicker, glossier glaze on other Attic black-glazed vases. The blotchy, grayish color probably resulted from poor control during firing. The resting surface of the foot and the base are reserved, with a dot and two painted central circles.
