DescriptionOn the interior, the tondo contains a nude archer, drawing his bow to shoot to right in a neatly balanced composition. He stands on a ground line beside a pillar or starting post on a single-stepped base. His right arm crosses his chest, obscuring part of it, in a naturalistic action pose. Six abdominal divisions are rendered in a dilute glaze, unlike the exterior figures. The archer is shown with a three-quarter face, frontal torso and left leg. The empty space above his head is balanced by the exergue (the area beneath the ground line). The border consists of a rightward-stopped maeander interrupted by checkerboard squares. On View
