DescriptionSquare mold for a bird, in profile to left. The workmanship is fine, the carving shallow. The bird has a small head, long, pointed beak, and crest with two long feathers extending separately behind the head. A large circular groove indicates the eye. The thin neck curves forward to meet the large body, which tapers to a point at the tail. The nearer leg—the upper section much shorter than the lower—extends beyond the edge of the body, ending in a bifurcated foot.
