DescriptionThis piece is composed of three separate parts: lamp, stand, and base. The base and stand are connected by tenons. The lamp has a squat body with a raised circular base and flattened rim on the spout. The mussel shell–shaped lid, attached by a hinge, rests on a raised rim. A large cross with knobbed ends projects oblique from the body of the lamp and meets the handle at a sharp angle. The cross is decorated with hatching around the edges, and incised concentric circles. The stand consists of a wide drip pan and an articulated shaft. The base widens into a smooth concave surface, the edges of which cover the attachment of the three stylized feet.
