DescriptionDramatic scene of Japanese troops launching an assault against the Manchu Army as Asan during the Sino-Japanese War. In the center, an officer with his sword upright looks back as he encourages his men to attack. Beneath a fluttering Japanese flag, two soldiers with bayonets fixed attack the Chinese crew of a cannon, two men lying wounded on the ground as another takes aim. Additional troops move up the hill at right behind an officer on horseback, while at left soldiers fire a volley of shots, scattering the enemy before them. At left, a few enemies fly into the air as a shot explodes, sending up a cloud of smoke. A lively historic scene.On View
