DescriptionKerma is famous for its extremely fine handmade ceramics, particularly the Classic Kerma vessels characterized by a distinctive black top and highly polished reddish-brownbody, which is divided by an irregular and almost iridescent gray band. Classic Kerma ware has unusually thin walls and elegant shapes, attesting to the supreme technical skills of the Nubian potters.
Rim missing a few chips. Red clay; white discoloration below black on exterior. Handmade, burnished, with red slip on lower portion of exterior.
Deep conical beaker with slightly flaring slides. All of interior and upper third of vase is black.
