DescriptionHorse missing right ear; the left once extended to the rider’s arm; rider missing parts of both arms. Surface heavily worn; some brownish discoloration, especially on back and underside of horse. Bronze with dark, almost black patina and red spots. Solid cast. Horse with smooth, elongated body and few details: no eyes, mouth, or nostrils are depicted. A thick neck supports a ridge for the mane, and the tail is short. The rider sits sidesaddle, its frontal head large. Large eyes formed by incised ovals dominate the face; the nose is pinched and a slight smile is suggested. The right arm was probably connected to the horse’s ear. A bump occurs on the rider’s left forearm; at back, six vertical lines indicate hair; two projections on his back once formed a suspension loop.
